Ans - In East Pakistan, under the leadership of Sheikh Mujib, there was a struggle going on for the creation of an independent nation called Bangladesh. Bored in this situation, the then Pakistani President Yahiya Khan intensified the atrocities on Bengalis even more. As a result, crores of Bangladeshis took refuge in India. Burdened by the burden of refugees, India expressed its troubles to the world. Meanwhile, on December 3, 1971, Pakistani aircraft started bombing Indian airports. With no way left in this situation, India also retaliated. After this war which lasted for about 12 days, on December 16, 1971, about 93 thousand Pakistani soldiers surrendered in Dhaka. Now India has declared a one-sided ceasefire. As a result of this war, a new nation named Bangladesh emerged on the world map. India captured 6 thousand square miles of Pakistan's land in this war. But after Yahiya Khan, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto took power in Pakistan, then on July 3, 1972, Shimla Agreement was signed between the then Indian Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi and Bhutto.
